五十年代，吉澳只有一個中醫，即便是「雙生堂」的坐堂鄔醫生，小時以為他姓烏，烏卒卒的烏，客家話烏等於黑的意思。六十年代有全家從大陸來的西醫朱醫生在吉澳駐診，全家人住在温官發那間屋。隨後再有羅醫生到吉澳，住新圍仔替人看病，此時吉澳有两名醫生，但羅醫生不久後遷往沙頭角。

 

朱醫生離開吉澳，有另一客家醫生藍醫生到吉澳，住在容記隔壁。這位醫生離開後，到了七十年代，由一位潮州籍的林醫師接替，住成茂隔壁。其後我離開香港，八十年代重回吉澳時，好像漁民村也有了醫生。

In the 1950s, there was only one Chinese medicine practitioner on Kat O: Dr Wu, from the Sheung Sang Tong. When I was a child, I thought his surname was Black because Wu means Black in Hakka. In the 1960s, Dr Zhu, a Western medical practitioner, whose family had come from the Mainland, was stationed on Kat O. The whole family lived in the house of Woon Koon Fat. Later on, a Dr Lo came to Kat O and lived in San Wai Tsai, where he treated patients. So we had two doctors in Kat O for a while, but Dr Lo moved to Sha Tau Kok shortly afterwards.

 

After Dr Chu left Kat O, another Hakka doctor, Dr Lam, came to Kat O and lived next door to Yung Kee. After Dr Lam left, in the 1970s, he was replaced by another Dr Lam, a Chiu Chow doctor, who lived next door to Shing Mau. I left Hong Kong, and when I returned to Kat O in the 1980s, I believe there was a doctor in Fishermen's Village.
